Recently, Arbor Terrace in Greenbelt hosted a birthday celebration for our mother that was enjoyed by everyone, especially our mother. Denise, the event manager, her staff and Chef Xavier did a phenomenal job of arranging everything and insuring that Mom was treated like a queen. All of the guests at the party were amazed at how they were treated and the elegance of the facility. Arbor Terrace in Greenbelt has been a blessing to our family for many years! Our mother is there now because of the wonderful previous experience we had when our father was a resident there. Even though there have been changes in personnel, our mother is experiencing the same caring, professional staff and welcoming environment.

Caring Arbor Terrace Senior Living
My aunt will be moving into Arbor Terrace Senior Living Greenbelt. I like the location. I like the facility. It was very clean. The staff was very friendly. My aunt has a problem with hearing. As we toured the place, one of the hearing aids wasn't in right, and we just happened to see it first and the nurse stopped and adjusted it for her. They have lots of activities for them to engage in, including bus trips and then also trips to a local shopping center. There are a lot of activities there on the premises. The staff was very, very nice. I liked it very much. They were very accommodating, even the person we met that took us on the tour. We first had a conversation with her as to what the Arbor Terrace was all about and the activities, and when my aunt couldn't understand because of her hearing problems, she started writing out some things, so that she could understand. They gave us a little cupcake, and it was delicious. Then we saw the dining room that looked more like a little restaurant. I was very impressed with it. I was impressed with the pricing of the one-bedroom apartment. I hadn't seen anything less than or the same amount in some of the other facilities that we looked at. I'm kind of pressing my aunt to get a one-bedroom, and they also allow guests to spend the night, which is what I'm planning to do along with my aunt's daughters to maybe stay with her a couple of nights until she makes that emotional transition.

Caring Arbor Terrace Senior Living
When you walked into Arbor Terrace Senior Living, it was literally like walking into an Airbnb place. It's newer. It's like a home and a hotel. It was beautifully furnished, and the staff was super nice. The memory care floor was also equally nice. They put a lot of effort in selecting paint colors that reinforced its vibrancy. They had a full calendar of events. Some events were social. Some events were cognitive-related for the memory care residents. The memory care has its own dining, and they do different things. They emphasize the sensory centers of the residents. They have birds in cages, fish tanks, a reading library, and a lot of stuff. I went to the assisted living side, saw their dining hall, actually met the chefs, and saw how everything was prepared. They did a really good job on that. The only thing was the rooms were super small and the redirection photos were in a shadow box, so that wasn't up to date. They didn't have a whole lot of diversity in terms of age range as well. I could not see my mom there or feeling like she's connected for that reason, but the staff seemed to be nice. The lady who gave the tour was fantasticm, but they had what they called assessments. It's one price going in. In 45 days, they reassess and then again in 3 months. It just keeps going and going. At some point, if your loved one is going to be having more negative implications and needing more assistance (from dementia), the family is going to have to give up huge chunks of money; I didn't like that.
